Looking for a pair of boots? Or pink flamingos for your garden?  Or perhaps you've been yearning for an old Elvis poster? The Thieves Market section of the Montrose Harvest Market has fresh treasures every Sunday.

On weekdays Honolulu in Montrose is a quiet tree-lined shopping street with dozens of stores and restaurants catering primarily to the shopping habits of locals.  But Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. the Montrose Harvest Market springs into life in the middle of the street giving shoppers a mix of fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, artisan bread, hand-made soaps, and jewelry, hot foods, books, collectibles of every variety, plus children's activities.  And it all plays out to live music with a Dixieland beat.

(To reach Montrose from Pasadena, go west on the 210 freeway and exit at Ocean View.  Then go south -- downhill -- to Honolulu Street.)

As farmers set up for the day, early morning sunlight shines onto a table full of fresh-picked strawberries.

The Harvest Market has both organic and certified farmers selling their goods.  Additionally, there are booths selling local and imported olives, oils, vinegars, honey, orchids, cut flowers and more.

This colorful booth has washable books and hand-made baby quilts for sale by a local grandmother.

Handcrafted glass pendants are just one of the items shoppers will find in jewelry booths in the Montrose Harvest Market.

Hawaiian chicken? Shish kebabs?  Fresh tomales?  Mexican food?  Pick out what you want and sit down at a picnic table for lunch at the Montrose Harvest Market.
