If any station in Pasadena
deserves the title of "Arts Central" it is the
Memorial Park station, located on the northern edge of Old Town
Pasadena at Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway.
Within a few blocks are three
very interesting museums, more restaurants than you eat your way
through in a month, public art tucked away here and there, and,
of course, enough shopping to ruin your credit rating.
The Memorial Park station
with its long wall sculpture is partially submerged beneath one side
of Memorial Park.
On summer evenings family-friendly free concerts are held nightly in the Levitts Pavilion in
Memorial Park.
 |
Across the street is the Armory Center
for the Arts. Local artists exhibit here and classes are available. |
 |
Just north
of the park is Marston's, an incredibly popular
restaurant. There always seems to be a
line--especially for breakfast. |
On the walls of
Marston's are works of art from the California Art Club and you can
enjoy dinners "to meet the artists" whose art work hangs
on the walls of this establishment. Visit
museums just to the east
of the Memorial Park station
Or go to cafes and
museums to the west of the Memorial Park Station in Old Town. |
